Premier League Contenders To Pay For City’s Thrashing of Manchester United

Manchester was and still is blue after Manchester City battered Manchester United on Sunday to see the blue moon overshadow the red devils. The dreadful score line that saw Sir Alex Ferguson experience his worst ever day in football was instigated by the pride of both manager and players. Having sat on his Old Trafford throne throughout the match, the Manchester United manager found it extremely shameful to step down to the touchline to shout to his players to defend after going down 3-1 – not against any other team than Manchester City – leading to the 6-1 humiliation. And the players after having the last laugh in the Community Shield thought it was time to grab the headline again. Though they did grab the headlines, it was their stupidity that was outlined to them.

Manchester City are a force to reckon with but after putting six past Manchester United, the red devils’ reaction might be too intense for Roberto Mancini’s side, Chelsea and maybe Arsenal – if they are ready to fight for the title.                                                                                                                    Manchester United are not going to purchase a Xavi or another David Silva in January to booster their midfield, you can be sure about that. The average Darren Fletcher, Anderson, Michael Carrick and Tom Cleverly are the ones going to hold the central midfield positions. The only difference to be recognized will be their mentality after being humiliated by City.                                                  Manchester United hadn’t been playing particularly well in their last few games before the derby against Manchester City but had it obscured by winning seven and drawing one at Anfield – a place where the draw was as good as a win – in their first eight Premier league matches. Sir Alex saw his dirty linings made public by Roberto Mancini’s side and in turn will pressurize his players to deliver. There will be no more banter sharing at least for the next few weeks at the Carrington training complex and Michael Owen has already confirmed that. Captain Nemanja Vidic’s body language in leading his side against League Two side Aldershot Town and the squad’s zealousness throughout the whole ninety minutes demonstrated that real business was meant by the Old Trafford outfit. Although the red devils had the upper hand in the game, the seriousness was more than we’ve seen against similar sides like non league side Crawley Town last season and FC Basel in the Champions League. The very remarkable defending at Everton said it all.                                                                                                                                                                                             Manchester United at their best is perilous even with their unimpressive central midfielders and we saw that in their Champions League campaign last season except against FC Barcelona – who Real Madrid had to deploy a plan devoid of their creative central midfielders in order not to receive another 5-0 hammering.

Manchester United is going to bounce back with the passion and vigor none of the Premier League’s title contenders can handle. Manchester City is up to their best in their game play with the current squad they have and there’ll be no other improvement as Roberto Mancini claims (except improvement in experience which is not achieved in a season). Andrews Villas Boas is showing signs he’s going to break when the title challenge intensifies and that’s a pain in the tooth for Chelsea. Arsenal is on transition and would be very pleased with a place in the top four.

Sir Alex will be motivated more than ever to make sure Manchester City do not win the Premier League title whiles he’s still manager of Manchester United after embarrassing him at Old Trafford and with experience he has, you could bet he’ll make them pay come May.
