Serie A 08/09: Betting View

Bwin.com are placing the odds for the upcoming Serie A as follows. Mourinho is placed as a favourite to grab his first title with Inter having odds placed at 2.30 . Champions League-less Ac Milan follow at 3.50 with Juventus and Roma following a close battle at 5.25 each. In my opinion Napoli are better competition than Udinese and will be a tricky test and pose a tough challenge to Sampdoria for a top place.

Bwin places Juventus in fourth/third place in the Serie A at 5.25. Actually the odds seem high enough for me to place my stake on the Bianconeri as I think that we have enough resources to have a good long battle for the Scudetto as we always have done. A look at last year’s Serie A proves that Juventus is always Juventus in the Serie A no matter if it has just been promoted from the Serie B. Juve beat Inter to resurge their title chances yet  games against ‘weak’ teams and some referees (especially vs Napoli) foiled Juventus. Juve lost four points alone to Catania in matches ending 1-1. At times, Juventus failed to perform against small teams, yet in my opinion, the arrival of Amauri and Poulsen (eventhough heavily criticised), will send Juventus flying on the attack as well as keeping the defensive fort strong.  The return of Giovinco and Marchisio from the Olympics would then fortify the midfield and Juventus would be able to have a good chance of striking back and winning the scudetto. The only hitch that I think might keep Juventus from placing a strong bid to win the title is Claudio Ranieri. At times in last season’s matches he was not doing things right in certain matches against the small teams and this ended up costing Juventus the scudetto. This season, Ranieri has also the Champions League  to which the priority is to qualify without no problem for the Group Stage. Let’s hope the start of the  season goes well for the Bianconeri!!Serie A 08/09 Odds From Bwin.comSource: Bwin.com
