Manchester United will host Newcastle United at Old Trafford in the only Premier League fixture on Boxing Day this year.
Football on Boxing Day has been one of the longest-standing traditions in England, marking the beginning of the fixture-packed festive period.
However, with coaches constantly raising concerns over fixture congestion, the FA has decided to significantly reduce Premier League action this year.
There was no English football on Christmas, and only one game will be played on Boxing Day for the first time in history. So, understandably, fans desperately want the two teams to do justice to the proud English tradition.
Manchester United vs Newcastle United – Boxing Day Records
Manchester United Boxing Day Record
Manchester United have not won a Premier League title since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013. They have had their fair share of managers, but have yet to find the winning combination.
However, on Boxing Day, the Red Devils have generally managed to keep their fans happy, maintaining a strong record in the post-Ferguson era.
Since the legendary manager’s departure, they have been involved in 10 Boxing Day matches, winning six and drawing and losing two each.
Manchester United vs Newcastle on Boxing Day (the only BD match…) will be United’s EIGHTH consecutive Premier League fixture that doesn’t clash with another.
Still this competition’s franchise team after 12 years of mediocrity. All eyes on us, always.
