Alexander Isak Blasted Over Newcastle Exit Actions Amid Liverpool Transfer Impasse

Alexander Isak has been blasted for “throwing his toys out the pram” at Newcastle as he looks to force through a move to Liverpool.

That’s the view of former Rangers and Scotland striker Ally McCoist who accused the Swedish frontman of bad behaviour as he continues to seek a switch to Anfield.

Newcastle have rebuffed all interest from the Reds who have been pushing to land the 25-year-old.

It was claimed an offer of £110million was tabled by Liverpool as they sought to convince the Magpies to sell. However that, too, was rejected.

Alexander Isak accused of ‘acting poorly’ over transfer desire by Ally McCoist

Isak flew out to Spain for individual training without telling manager Eddie Howe as the rest of the squad were in the Far East for pre-season and his decision did not sit right with TNT commentator McCoist.

“I think he’s acted poorly. Not all players but some players and people forget that if you sign a contract you are clearly happy with he contract,” he told the Mirror.

“You can’t sign a contract with the intention of doing well, throwing the toys out and demanding a move. You can’t do that. If you sign a contract then you have to say, ‘I’m here for three years, four years and that I’m going to honour that contract.

“You sign it because you’re happy with it. I think he’s been poor. You can’t behave like that. The one set of supporters that won’t let you away with it are Newcastle fans. It’s hard to argue with them.”

Why Eddie Howe should consider selling Isak

Newcastle’s desire to keep hold of their star man is a decision which could still come back to haunt Howe and the rest of his squad.

An unsettled player can poison a dressing room but McCoist is sure the manager knows what he’s doing.

The pundit did, however, suggest that the best thing for Newcastle could potentially be to sell the player to avoid any issues down the line.

“Eddie might say to the owners, ‘I know you want £150m, I’m telling you now he will be a problem when he gets back in the dressing room so you’re going to have to do something’,” Coisty added.

“He might say, ‘I won’t say this publicly but I don’t want him back in the dressing room because he will cause me problems’. We don’t know how Eddie is thinking.

“He has to do what is best for the team and club going forward. That might be accepting £20m less. But I don’t know the situation. I don’t think Isak has handled it well.”

Strikers Newcastle United want in transfer window as possible Isak replacements

Newcastle have been hunting new faces in the transfer window this summer regardless and have had unsuccessful attempts at signings strikers.

Benjamin Sesko moved to Manchester United despite interest from St James’s while the Newcastle are considering Nicolas Jackson of Chelsea.

Newcastle also like Porto striker Samu Aghehowa and Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.
