Andre Onana completed his loan move from Manchester United to Turkish club Trabzonspor on Thursday night.
Onana, alongside wife Melanie Kamayou, flew to Turkey via private jet to seal a deal that will effectively double the goalkeeper’s wages during the 2025-26 campaign.
Melanie shared two photos on Instagram to document the trip. The first showed her and Onana holding up a Trabzonspor shirt inside the plane, while the second showed the couple posing with a bouquet of flowers each following their arrival.
The pictures were captioned with a positive message as Onana’s life partner wrote: “A new beginning in the heart of the Black Sea.”
Meanwhile, United wished Onana well by posting a 112-word club statement. It read: “Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has joined Trabzonspor on loan for the duration of the 2025/26 season, subject to international clearance and registration.
“The 29-year-old Cameroon international has made 102 appearances for the Reds since signing from Italian giants Inter in July 2023.
“In his first season at United, Andre was part of the squad that lifted the Emirates FA Cup following a 2-1 victory over Manchester City at Wembley Stadium.
“Onana played 50 times in his second campaign and our no.24 has now agreed a loan move to Trabzonspor.
“The move has been completed ahead of the Turkish transfer window closing on Friday. We would like to wish Andre good luck.”

Andre Onana leaves Man United amid talk of Ruben Amorim fallout
There was no message from United manager Ruben Amorim in the club statement, with multiple reports claiming that he and Onana had fallen out over the summer.
Onana — who is due to return to Old Trafford next summer, when he will have two years remaining on his United contract — apparently started pre-season as Amorim’s first-choice goalkeeper.
But according to The Sun, Amorim became unimpressed by Onana’s alleged lack of team mentality during the summer, leading to a breakdown in their relationship.
Who is Man United’s No 1 goalkeeper now?
Onana had been United’s first-choice goalkeeper in the two seasons since his 2023 arrival from Inter Milan. He made 101 appearances in those campaigns and added one more this season, featuring in the shock Carabao Cup defeat by Grimsby.
But summer signing Senne Lammens, who moved to Old Trafford from Royal Antwerp for £18.2m plus £3.5m in add-ons on deadline day, is expected to replace Onana as Amorim’s top stopper.
Amorim’s other options are 39-year-old Tom Heaton and Turkey international Altay Bayindir, who has started United’s first three Premier League games this season.
Bayindir’s early-season audition has not been flawless. He made a costly error on the opening weekend that resulted in Arsenal scoring the only goal at Old Trafford. It was almost an exact replica of a mistake he made against Tottenham in last season’s Carabao Cup.
Who is Andre Onana’s wife?
Andre Onana’s wife is Dr Melanie Kamayou, a pharmacist, model and philanthropist who has supported the goalkeeper throughout much of his career in Europe.
The couple have been together since 2019 and they got married in Paris in 2023. They share a young son but prefer to keep his life private.
Although Melanie is often pictured cheering on Onana from the stands, she has built an impressive career of her own.

A graduate of the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in the United States, she holds a doctorate in pharmacy and serves as co-chair of the Andre Onana Foundation, a children’s charity.
She has also developed a strong social media presence, with more than 70,000 Instagram followers. Her posts cover fashion and family life, though she generally maintains a lower profile than many footballers’ partners.
The Cameroonian-French doctor has stood by Onana through highs and lows, including his nine-month suspension at Ajax in 2021, which came after he mistakenly took one of her prescribed medicines.
