Arne Slot Confirms Latest Liverpool Injury News As Four Ruled Out Of Bournemouth Clash

Liverpool manager Arne Slot injury latest

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has provided the latest injury update on his squad’s fitness ahead of Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth.

The Reds make the long journey to Dorset on the back of a convincing 3-0 win in Marseille on Wednesday.

Goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo either side of an own goal from the hosts were enough for a well-deserved Champions League victory.

The result leaves Liverpool fourth in both the Champions League and Premier League tables, though they’ll be far happier with the latter.

That win also helps Liverpool avoid a fixture pileup, by keeping them in line to advance straight to the last-16 and avoid the two-legged play-off round.

Looking ahead to this weekend, Slot’s side travel to the South Coast unbeaten in 13 in all competitions.

They last tasted defeat at the hands of PSV in November. That loss was the third in succession, and led to calls for Arne Slot to go.

Questions were being asked about how Liverpool, the Premier League’s top revenue club and defending champions, could have fallen off so quicky.

But the Dutch coach has turned things around in recent weeks, and the chat around Anfield is far more positive.

However, Slot and Liverpool will have to do without a number of key players against the Cherries tomorrow.

Among those missing in midweek was centre-back Ibrahima Konate.

The Frenchman was absent due to the passing of his father, and will also be unavailable this weekend.

“I spoke to him a few times,” said Slot.

“These are private matters and should stay between us but it’s very obvious if something like this, a player needs time to be there for his family. And also time for himself.”

Meanwhile, Federico Chiesa remains a major doubt for Saturday.

The Italian pulled out of the warm-up in Marseille, and Slot has admitted he remains touch-and-go for Bournemouth.

Slot added: “Federico wasn’t able to be on the bench. There was a recovery session yesterday, so we have to wait and see.

“He is 50/50. No-one had a knock after the game but sometimes can feel something but expect all players had available.”

Also ruled out are long-term absentees Conor Bradley (knee), Alexander Isak (leg fracture) and Giovanni Leoni (knee).

How Can Liverpool Save Their Season?

After a difficult period earlier in the season, Liverpool look to have stopped the rot.

Unbeaten in a dozen games, they have climbed their way back into the Champions League places.

But to many, the damage has already been done. Liverpool’s title defence will go down as perhaps the worst in history, barring a remarkable turnaround in the second half of the season.

They are 14 points adrift of league leaders Arsenal, and seven behind Aston Villa in third.

Success this season is still possible, with the Reds in good form in the Champions League.

As a minimum, they should expect to finish in the top four and make a deep run in Europe.

Anything less than that would be a serious failing. But if they managed to win the Champions League and possibly the FA Cup, most fans would have to be satisfied given where they were in November.
