Aston Villa have entered talks with Tottenham over the January transfer of Wales international Brennan Johnson.
Unai Emery’s Villa have reportedly made contact with Johnson’s representatives, as well as those at Spurs.
Johnson’s time at Spurs has been largely successful, with more than 100 appearances and 45 goal involvements.
The 24-year-old netted the winner in Tottenham’s Europa League final triumph against Manchester United last season, scoring a total of 18 in all competitiuons.
But this camapign, he has been limited to far fewer minutes, with much of his game time coming from the bench.
New manager Thomas Frank has handed Johnson just six Premier League starts.
With Wales still in contention to qualify for the upcoming World Cup, regular minutes are vital for Johnson at this stage pf his career.
As a result, a January exit looks increasingly likely, with Villa now set to rival Crystal Palace for his signature.
Aston Villa Enter Talks With Spurs Over Brennan Johnson
With 10 wins in a row in all competitions, Aston Villa’s title challenge looks serious.
The Midlands outfit sit third in the table, just three points below Premier League leaders Arsenal.
But despite their form, Unai Emery is keen to add pace and flexibility to their forward line.

This is where Johnson fits perfectly.
The Nottingham-born Welsh attacker has been identified as a replacement for Liverpool loanee, Harvey Elliot, who is expected to return to Anfield next month.
Johnson has shown his versatility in recent seasons. Comfortable on either flank or behind the striker, he has also sometimes led the line himself.
While not a signing that will ignite the Premier League, he is a solid target that will add depth and competition at a vital stage of the season.
Tottenham Ready To Listen To Offers For Brennan Johnson
From Tottenham’s perspective, Johnson’s sale may be sanctioned out of pragmatism, rather than desire.
Arriving from Nottingham Forest in 2023, his £47.5m move has been positive.
But with minutes limited, Thomas Frank is clearly not getting the best from him.
While a useful squad option, neither the player or club are happy for him to be just that.
As a result, allowing him to leave for a sensible fee seems like a wise decision.

It is highly unlikely that Spurs will recoup what they paid for Johnson, but cashing in now while he still holds some of that value feels like the best option for all involved.
And with Villa’s title challenge and momentum, Johnson is unsurprisingly keen on the move.
Villa face competition from Crystal Palace, wo are also very keen on Johnson.
But their superior league position and probability of securing Champions League football are thought to be key factors.
The opportunity to continue in Europe’s top competition is a big lure for any player.
But for the man who sent his current team to the top table with his Europa League-winning strike, it may prove pivotal.
It remains to be seen if Villa will get their man.
But this kind of ambition is another sign that the club are serious about their title challenge.
