Bayern Munich are on the verge of completing a €110m (£95.1m) double signing, with deals for PSV Eindhoven’s Ismael Saibari and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown agreed in principle – and both players set to undergo medicals in North America while competing at the World Cup.
TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey reports that Bayern expect to wrap up both transfers before the weekend, with only administrative details outstanding. Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea all made enquiries in the final stages, but each was told the same thing: the agreements were already in place.
The Fee Structure
The combined €110m outlay breaks down into two separate packages. Saibari’s deal is structured at approximately €50m plus up to €5m in performance bonuses, with PSV also securing a sell-on clause – a concession Bayern accepted after increasing their offer late in negotiations, per The National, fearing competition from elsewhere would force their hand.
For Brown, Bayern are working on a package in excess of €60m including add-ons, according to reporting from Fabrizio Romano and Eindhovens Dagblad. Saibari’s fee alone would make him PSV’s record sale, surpassing Hirving Lozano’s €50m departure to Napoli in 2019. PSV extended Saibari’s contract to 2029 earlier this year specifically to command a premium, and it worked.
What Arsenal, United and Chelsea Were Told
Arsenal made contact with Brown’s representatives in recent days as they explored defensive reinforcements, but were informed that the Germany international had already given Bayern his word. Chelsea had tracked Brown closely throughout his Eintracht Frankfurt campaign. Manchester United made enquiries about Saibari as part of their search for a versatile attacking addition, but sources indicate United subsequently pulled out to pursue other targets once Bayern moved ahead – a detail reported by Sports Mole.
Bayern’s early groundwork on both deals is what proved decisive. By the time Premier League clubs were circling, the player-side agreements were locked. This follows a pattern of Bayern moving quickly to beat English clubs to targets before the window fully opens.
The Players
Saibari, 24, has been one of the most effective attackers in the Eredivisie, capable of operating across the front line and in an advanced central role. His performances for PSV drew interest from Premier League and La Liga clubs, but Fabrizio Romano has repeatedly described the Bayern agreement as a priority signing with only minor details remaining between the clubs. Romano’s reporting, backed by Eindhovens Dagblad, had personal terms agreed weeks before the formal announcement looked imminent.
Brown, 22, has established himself as Germany’s first-choice left-back during the current international cycle. His versatility – comfortable at left-back, wing-back, and further forward on the flank – attracted Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Real Madrid at various points. Bayern moved ahead of all of them. Both players scored in their nations’ opening World Cup matches, a detail that did nothing to cool the interest from clubs that had already been shut out.
Bayern’s aggressive posture in this window is not limited to this double swoop – they have also been linked with further additions as part of a broader attacking rebuild under their current recruitment structure.
The Verdict
This is not a rumour sitting on vague unnamed sourcing. Romano has Saibari flagged as imminent, Eindhovens Dagblad reported formal fee talks scheduled for Monday, and TEAMtalk’s Bailey has both deals described as agreed in principle with administrative sign-off remaining. The medicals in North America are the final procedural step before contracts are signed.
For Arsenal and United, this is the cost of moving too late. Bayern identified both players early, agreed terms before the window noise peaked, and used the World Cup calendar to their advantage. Both players will be Bayern Munich players before most clubs have finished their scouting shortlists.
