Dominik Szoboszlai Transfer News Sparks Liverpool Fan Fury amid Man City and Real Madrid Links

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai mistake

The latest Dominik Szoboszlai transfer news suggests that Real Madrid and Manchester City are both interested in the Liverpool midfielder, who is currently in his third season at Anfield after joining from RB Leipzig in July 2023.

Liverpool paid Leipzig around £60 million after activating a release clause in his previous contract.

Szoboszlai’s current contract is due to expire in June 2028, but Liverpool are keen to agree a new deal with the 25-year-old to protect their prized asset.

However, it is understood that negotiations could be tricky, as Szoboszlai’s representatives are expected to demand a significant pay rise.

How much does Dominik Szoboszlai earn per week at Liverpool?

Dominik Szoboszlai is believed to be paid around £120,000 per week under the terms of his current Liverpool contract.

That is significantly less than the world’s top midfielders, with Jude Bellingham believed to be on closer to £350,000 at Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, Manchester United playmaker Bruno Fernandes and Manchester City star Bernardo Silva are said to be among the highest-earning Premier League midfielders, earning around £265,000 each per week.

Real Madrid and Man City keep tabs on Dominik Szoboszlai’s contract situation

Real Madrid and Manchester City are reportedly keeping a close eye on how things develop with Dominik Szoboszlai’s contract situation at Liverpool.

Madrid and City — both of whom are among the favourites to win this season’s UEFA Champions League — view Szoboszlai as a strong candidate to strengthen their respective squads.

If Liverpool are unable to meet Szoboszlai’s wage demands when his new contract is discussed, then it is understood that Madrid and City — who both have less rigid wage structures — may look to ramp up their interest.

Liverpool fans react to Dominik Szoboszlai transfer news

Many Liverpool fans reacted strongly to the latest Dominik Szoboszlai transfer news via social media.

Countless posts urged Szoboszlai to stay and told Real Madrid and Manchester City to “f*** off”.

Meanwhile, one Liverpool supporter defiantly declared: “I’m sure every club in the world would want him right now, but there’s no way he’s going anywhere.”

Another told Madrid to “stop dreaming”, while a different fan insisted that Liverpool should refuse to do business with City, who themselves had been unwilling to sell Julián Álvarez to them in the past.

“They didn’t want to sell Julián Álvarez to Liverpool, a rival, but want to have Szoboszlai,” began a slightly longer post. “Do they think those at Liverpool aren’t serious or dumb? Firstly, Szoboszlai isn’t for sale, and as of now, he’s being offered a new contract.”

Other fans were sceptical about the timing of the Szoboszlai transfer news, suggesting that it might have been planted by the player’s agent to increase leverage in contract talks with Liverpool. One message read: “Agent fake news to get him new bumper contract. Nothing to see here.”

Finally, plenty of Newcastle supporters — still annoyed by the way Alexander Isak behaved during a summer-long transfer saga to force through a move to Liverpool — also joined the chat. One said with a smirk: “If Liverpool say he’s not for sale, then he needs to go on strike.”
