Eddie Howe Rules Out Manchester United Job And Reaffirms Commitment To Newcastle

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has ruled himself out of the vacant Manchester United manager position after being linked with the job.

The 48-year-old coach has confirmed he remains 100% committed to Newcastle.

Howe’s is a name that always comes up when big clubs find themselves without a manager.

Manchester United sacked Ruben Amorim on Monday, while Chelsea parted ways with Enzo Maresca over the weekend.

But despite links to both empty dugouts, Howe has ruled himself out of the running for both jobs.

Chelsea have since appointed Liam Rosenior as head coach, while United are now under interim boss and former player Darren Fletcher.

The news that Howe isn’t going anywhere will be welcomed by most Newcastle fans.

After a poor start to the season, Newcastle’s injury problems are slowly subsiding.

They have climbed to ninth in the Premier League, and sit just five points off the Champions League places.

And with Howe reaffirming his commitment to the club, the second half of the season is already off to a positive start.

Eddie Howe Rules Out Manchester United Switch

Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Leeds United, Howe was asked about the links to the vacant Man United position.

He confirmed that nothing has changed and he remains fully committed to Newcastle.

“Yes, absolutely. Nothing has changed from my perspective,” he said.

Newcastle Eddie Howe won’t be joining Manchester United

“I’m 100% here, working as hard as I can, head down, ignoring all the stuff that you guys write, good or bad, because it’s irrelevant.

“It’s about today’s work and trying to prepare the team as well as we can for Leeds, so that will never change from my perspective, my commitment to my work and my job.

“As long as I’m happy and able to express myself in the best way that I can to help the team, nothing will change.”

Howe Has No Plans To Leave Newcastle United

Discussing his future, Howe was asked if there was anything that would make him consider leaving St. James’ Park.

“No, not at this current time,” added Howe.

“The most important thing for me is happiness in the role, happiness in the job. The relationships I have with the people around me.

“Now, that’s not always been consistently good and things can change at any football club. But, at the moment, I am very happy.

“We have made some great appointments in the roles we needed to fill and as long as I can express myself in the best way possible, the best version of myself to help the players and the club.

“Because ultimately, for any club to be successful, there has to be unity from top to bottom and a good feeling between everybody.

“I’ve had an unbelievable relationship with the board here since I’ve come to the football club and that’s never changed.

“I consider myself very lucky to have that because there are very few managers that have the time to build those relationships and to have the confidence and trust within each other.

“I think that is really important and if you have all those things, you have a higher chance of being successful.

“There is no guarantee, but you have a higher chance if those relationships are working. I’m very happy and I hope that continues for a long time.”

Is Eddie Howe The Right Manager For Newcastle Long Term?

There have been murmurings in some corners that How may have taken Newcastle as far as he can.

But the former Bournemouth coach won the club it’s first trophy in decades, and secured Champions League football.

Despite Newcastle’s wealthy Saudi owners, success is not guaranteed overnight.

It has taken time for the club to grow from relegation candidates to European competitors.

Progress is rarely linear, but Newcastle’s is measurable and obvious – and Howe has been at the helm for all of it.

Bringing in someone else would only disrupt the club, and it’s questionable who they could hire.

The sort of managers that would be a certain improvement would not come to Newcastle.

And for now at least, Howe remains the best man for the job in our opinion.
