Stats Prove Kylian Mbappe Has Been the Most Complete Forward in Europe This Season

Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe has emerged as the most complete forward across the top five European leagues this season.

He has had the joint-highest goal involvements, scored the second-most goals, and created the most chances of all the leading scorers in the top five divisions.

Kylian Mbappe Is Setting the Standard in Europe

Kylian Mbappe had to face a bit of criticism for not hitting top gear right away at Real Madrid. But he still managed to score 44 goals and provide five assists in 59 games in all competitions last season.

Under Xabi Alonso, Mbappe has looked considerably sharper. Wearing the No. 10 on his back, the French forward has scored 26 goals in only 22 games across competitions this season. He has also provided four assists.

Mbappe scored his 70th Real Madrid goal in the 2-1 win over Alaves on Sunday, reaching the milestone in just 81 appearances. Only Cristiano Ronaldo had more goals at the same stage, scoring 75 in his first 81 games for the club.

In LaLiga, Mbappe has scored 17 goals and claimed four assists this season. No player across the top five European leagues has more goal involvements than the former Paris Saint-Germain player.

Mbappe vs Top Scorers in Europe

Kylian Mbappe is the leading scorer in LaLiga this season. So, to make the comparison fair, we have pitted him against the top scorers of the other four leagues – Premier League, Serie A, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1.

Mbappe has scored 17 LaLiga goals in as many matches from an xG of 14.19, which is the highest in the league. Erling Haaland has also scored 17 in 16 Premier League matches, while Harry Kane has 18 in just 14 Bundesliga games.

Serie A top scorer Lautaro Martinez has scored eight goals in 15 games, while Ligue 1 top scorer Mason Greenwood has scored 11 goals in 15 matches.

Kane is the leading scorer across the top five European leagues, but Mbappe has the same number of goal involvements as the Englishman at 21. Mbappe has provided four assists in LaLiga, whereas Kane, Haaland, Martinez, and Greenwood have all claimed three.

Mbappe has also had the most shots (59) and the most shots on target (35) of the lot. Coming to chance creations from open play, Mbappe has been the outright leader with 47.

Greenwood is a distant second with 31, while Haaland sits on the opposite end of the spectrum with only seven chances created. Of course, it does not come as a surprise, as the Norwegian is far more box-centric, which limits his playmaking.

Mbappe’s Real Madrid will be back in action on Wednesday night, as they face Talavera in the Copa del Rey Round of 32. The Frenchman, however, could start among the substitutes, as Xabi Alonso is expected to heavily rotate his squad.
