LaLiga legend Iago Aspas has advised Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr. on how to better channel his frustrations on the pitch.
Aspas has drawn on his own experiences to explain how emotions can impact performance at the top level.
Since joining Real Madrid in 2018, Vinicius Jr. has developed a reputation for displaying strong emotions on the pitch. He has clashed with players, fans, and referees, seeing silly yellow cards for tussles and dissent. The Brazilian has also been accused of play-acting to gain an advantage.
Aspas Advises Real Madrid Star Vinicius Jr. on Maturity
Vinicius Jr. has frequently been provoked by comments from the sidelines. Iago Aspas, one of the most experienced players in LaLiga, has advised him to show maturity and stop letting external factors impact his performance.
In an interview with Feeberse on the podcast ‘La Otra Grada’, the Celta Vigo icon commented on Vinicius’ situation.
“Sometimes, that frustration he has seems to be directed at the opponent, and he should channel it more into his football,” said Aspas (via Defensa Central).

“It’s easy for me to say this because it’s happened to me many times, especially when I was young.
“For the opposing fans, it’s easy to be on his back, to throw him off his game, to prevent him from showing all the football or all the talent he has inside, which is good.”
Vinicius Jr. Has a Complicated Relationship With Madridistas
Vinicius Jr. has also taken some flak from Real Madrid fans in recent months. He reportedly fell through with Xabi Alonso and played a role in his dismissal. Vinicius has also not been as consistent as he would have liked.
After Alonso’s departure and Madrid’s Copa del Rey exit to a lower-ranked Albacete, Vinicius Jr. was heavily booed by fans at the Santiago Bernabeu. He was in tears in the tunnel when he heard fans booing his name.
Following the game against Levante, it was suggested that Vinicius Jr. does not belong at Real Madrid.
However, his Man of the Match-winning performance against AS Monaco has seemingly turned things around. The Bernabeu faithful admired the effort he put in and gave him a standing ovation as he came off.
According to reports, he now feels happy at Real Madrid and wishes to sign a contract extension.
Vinicius’ renewal situation changed after Alonso’s exit, and now, with fans back in his corner, a breakthrough in contract talks feels imminent.
