Liverpool vs Southampton Betting Tips, Correct Score Prediction and Suggested Bet Builders

Liverpool welcome Southampton to Anfield this week in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Arne Slot’s side have started the season magnificently well in all competitions and want to make it into the next round of this tournament unscathed.

Wins over Everton, Atletico Madrid and Burnley in their three most recent outings showed different sides of their character every time and this time, a dominant win, would be welcomed by the home support.

It has been a different story for Will Still at St Mary’s so far. His side are struggling and sit 19th in the EFL Championship so far with six points from a possible 18. They have also lost silly goals at times and need to shut the door at the back.

Starting that with an away trip to Anfield won’t be easy and leading football betting sites have a home win at 1/9, draw at 6/1 and an away victory well out of the imagination at 11s.

Liverpool vs Southampton: Correct Score Prediction

Liverpool should win this one fairly comfortably, if we are being honest. They are top of the Premier League by five points so far and are the only club to remain unbeaten with no points yet dropped.

Of course, cup matches are different but Slot’s troops should have enough to win and do so by scoring a few goals, too.

We reckon 3-0 for the hosts could be decent value for money.

Liverpool vs Southampton Bet Builder Tips

Here are three picks that make sense for this week’s showdown:

Alexander Isak To Score First @ 11/4

The Swedish striker has a point to prove at Liverpool since forcing his move from Newcastle and he must be ready to face the Saints in front of his new fanbase.

Isak was average in his first start at his new club against Atletico Madrid but at Anfield that cannot become a habit and he will have to hit the ground running following his megabucks move.

The attacker will be determined to score and if he starts for the Reds, he could well be the talisman up front. At 11/4, the odds are long enough to be worth a punt.

Liverpool +7.5 corners @ Evens

Again, the Reds on paper should comfortably win this tie and their attacking threats should keep their opponents very busy.

Their forward stars should mount the pressure and with goal scorers in the team they should be peppering the goal to test Gavin Bazunu between the sticks if he starts ahead of Alex McCarthy.

Saints have shipped plenty of goals this term so far and that should also excite Liverpool. We expect they’ll be busy from set-pieces.

Over 2.5 Goals @ 4/7

As above, so below. Liverpool have scored 11 goals in the Premier League so far this campaign from just five matches so they know where the goal is. Factor in against second tier opposition who are leaking goals.

There could be more than 3.5, maybe even 4.5 but we are playing this one safe as part of our Treble.

Liverpool vs Southampton Team News

The Reds will be without a number of key players for this one after Slot revealed his top men will be given time to recover from a hectic early season schedule.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Mo Salah, Ryan Gravenberch, Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk will sit this one out.

Federico Chiesa might be given a shot after the manager praised his work ethic while youngster Rio Ngamoha might feature. Wataru Endo and new signing Giovanni Leoni might also be given their crack.

Will Still might choose Flynn Downes who could make a comeback after illness. He missed the 3-1 defeat to Hull City.
