Arsenal are on fire right now. Tuesday’s 3-0 victory away to Slavia Prague means that Mikel Arteta’s side have now won their last eight matches in all competitions without conceding a single goal.
That remarkable run has seen Arsenal emerge as strong favourites to win the Premier League, while they are also among the main contenders for Europe’s top prize.
What is Mikel Arteta’s Champions League win percentage?
Tuesday’s victory over Slavia Prague — which was achieved without Viktor Gyokeres up front for Arsenal — was Mikel Arteta’s 28th UEFA Champions League game in charge of the Gunners and his 18th win. That means he now boasts a win rate of 64.29%.
No other manager of an English club past or present who has taken charge of that team in at least 20 Champions League games has a win rate as high as Arteta’s.
After this stat went viral on social media, FootballBlog.co.uk decided to dig into the detail a little more.
Mikel Arteta’s Champions League record as Arsenal manager
As well as winning 18 games as Arsenal manager in the Champions League, Mikel Arteta has overseen four draws and six defeats.
Two of those defeats came against Paris Saint-Germain in last season’s semi-finals, after Arsenal also lost 1-0 away to Inter Milan during the league phase.
Arsenal’s other Champions League defeats under Arteta have come away at Bayern Munich, Porto and Lens.
In his first 28 matches as a Champions League manager, Arteta has seen his Arsenal side score 64 goals and concede just 20.

Mikel Arteta has a better Champions League win percentage than Pep Guardiola and Sir Alex Ferguson — but no trophy… yet
Mikel Arteta may have the best Champions League win percentage of any manager to take charge of at least 20 games with an English team, but he does not yet have a shiny European trophy to show for it.
Only six managers have won the Champions League with an English club since the European Cup was rebranded in 1992.
They are Sir Alex Ferguson (Manchester United, 1999 and 2008), Rafael Benitez (Liverpool, 2005), Roberto Di Matteo (Chelsea, 2012), Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool, 2019), Thomas Tuchel (Chelsea, 2021) and Pep Guardiola (Manchester City, 2023).

| Alex Ferguson (Man United) | 194 | 105 | 50 | 39 | 54.12 | 2 |

Thomas Tuchel’s UCL win rate with Chelsea is still higher than Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal record
As you can see in the table above, there is just one former Premier League manager with a higher Champions League win rate than Mikel Arteta — Thomas Tuchel.
The current England boss won 66.67% of his Champions League fixtures with Chelsea, including a 1–0 victory over Manchester City in the 2021 final. However, Tuchel’s European reign at Stamford Bridge lasted only 18 matches — a much smaller sample size than Arteta’s growing record.
That was the key context missed when the viral ‘Arteta has the best Champions League win rate of any English-club manager’ stat did the rounds online.
Technically, Tuchel still edges him — but with Arsenal’s current trajectory under Arteta, that might not be the case for much longer.
