Tottenham Hotspur Player Struggling at Loan Club: ‘Too Much Pressure’

Manchester City vs Tottenham Tips

Tottenham youngster Mikey Moore clearly has a huge career ahead of him in the Premier League.

The teen is highly thought of at Spurs and he recently put pen to paper on a new contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium under manager Thomas Frank.

At just 18-years-old, Moore is already considered a top talent for his age group and has made 21 first-team appearances for the club since he was handed his Premier League debut in 2024 against Manchester City.

His promise was realised that day when he became the youngest Spurs player to be given the chance in a league match since Dane Scarlett did the same years earlier.

Several clubs were keen on taking Moore on loan with the player dreaming of big opportunities in the men’s game and developing before ultimately returning to North London. And that is where Glasgow Rangers came in to swoop for the ace.

Mikey Moore has big Tottenham Hotspur future

Moore has since played six times for the Light Blues and provided his only assist so far in a win for the Gers over Alloa Athletic at Ibrox. He has also turned out for the club in European qualifiers.

Moore’s addition to the Rangers squad was questioned at the time by some pundits who felt a young lad in on loan would not be a smart move.

And now former Manchester United, Hearts and Hibs midfielder Michael Stewart has doubled down on those claims by suggesting he has been thrown into a pressure cooker.

Russell Martin’s Rangers tenure has began poorly and Stewart feels too much may be expected of Moore at such a young age.

“This strikes me that the people who are making these decisions behind the scenes at the club don’t really recognise how difficult it would be for a youngster to come from England and have so much pressure,” the pundit said.

Moore ‘uncomfortable’ in Rangers position, says Michael Stewart

“They made him out to be a world beater who was coming into a misfiring team to spearhead it. The guy is a youngster. I don’t really understand the strategy of spending mega bucks on loan fees to bring in really young, inexperienced guys for you then to develop other club’s talent.

“You would get greater value and productivity out of signing Vaclav Cerny who was a solid, already made starter who would have had an impact on the team.

“To be fair, over on the left I think (Djeidi) Gassama is looking like a good addition. But Mikey Moore doesn’t look comfortable on the right. They are loaded with right footers who want to play on the left but don’t have many options on the right.

“You are then asking this kid to play on the other side, which he is not totally comfortable with in a team that has not really found it’s feet yet. He is still trying to learn the game and I think it’s a lot to put on the youngster’s shoulders.”
