Newcastle Leading The Race For £50 Million Rated Real Madrid Attacker

Newcastle United are now front-runners to sign Real Madrid attacking midfielder Brahim Diaz before the end of the January transfer window.

Twenty-six-year-old Moroccan international Diaz has been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu this month.

The former Manchester City academy graduate made 15 senior appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side before joining Madrid in 2018-19.

He then spent two loan spells in Italy with AC Milan, playing 124 times for the Rossoneri.

Diaz missed a penalty in the AFCON final in bizarre fashion. His attempted ‘Panenka’ saw the ball gently chipped straight into the arms of  Senegal keeper Edouard Mendy.

Things have been little better for his club, with just one goal for Madrid this season.

With Brahim Diaz’s Real Madrid future in doubt, he is now expected to leave Los Blancos.

Reports in Spain indicate that Real Madrid will listen to offers in the region of £50 million.

Given the Moroccan’s previous Premier League experience, a return to England has been rumoured.

And now it has emerged that Newcastle United are leading the race for Diaz, though they face competition from Milan.

Magpies boss Eddie Howe has been keen to add firepower to his squad this window.

But Newcastle have repeatedly missed out on targets, with no major additions in January.

Fans will be hoping this isn’t yet another false hope. But early indications are that Newcastle’s interest is genuine, and the club are optimistic that a deal can be agreed.

Diaz’s versatility is a huge selling point, with the Moroccan attacker able to play across the forward line.

He is also capable working in behind the striker in a supporting role, an area Howe is keen to strengthen.

The promise of regular, top-level game time puts Newcastle in a strong position, with the club’s progress to the Champions League knockouts also an exciting prospect.

How Would Brahim Diaz Fit In At Newcastle United?

While progress at Newcastle under their wealthy Saudi owners has not been linear, it cannot be denied.

The Magpies have gone from relegation battlers to Carabao Cup winners, and reached the Champions League knockouts.

Additions such as Brahim Diaz signal the club’s ambitions, with Newcastle aiming to become genuine title contenders.

Should he join, Diaz would complement the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon and Nick Woltemade.

And his ability to cover multiple areas means he would add a depth and competition across Newcastle’s attack.

While it hasn’t quite worked out at Madrid, there is no doubting Diaz’s quality.

His arrival would be some statement from Newcastle, and undoubtedly improve their misfiring forward line.
