Neymar in Line for Mysterious $1 BILLION Inheritance That Would Almost Quadruple His Net Worth

Former Barcelona superstar Neymar is already one of the wealthiest footballers on the planet – but reports suggest he could one day become even richer thanks to an unexpected inheritance.

Stories first reported in 2023 about Neymar being included in the will of an anonymous super fan in Brazil have resurfaced this week, sparking fresh debate about the striker’s future wealth.

The mystery man, who is now 32, told Brazilian outlet Metropoles at the time: “I like Neymar, I identify with him a lot. I also suffer with defamation, I am also very family-oriented and the relationship with his father reminds me a lot of mine with my father, who has passed away.

“I am not in very good health and, because of that, I really saw that I don’t have anyone to leave my things to. I wouldn’t want the government or relatives I don’t get along with to take my things.”

According to reports, documents were signed by a notary’s office in Porto Alegre in 2023. The eccentric businessman admitted he had previously tried and failed to give Neymar most of his wealth directly, before settling on this legal solution in his will.

Neymar to inherit $1 BILLION

Explaining his unusual decision, the man added: “I know that, above all, he is not greedy, something a bit rare these days.”

Although he said two years ago that he was “not in very good health,” it is believed the fan is still alive.

The exact value of his estate has never been officially confirmed, but recent reports suggest it is worth in the region of $1 billion. If the inheritance does eventually come to pass, it would represent one of the most remarkable financial windfalls ever gifted to a sports star.

What is Neymar’s net worth?

As of 2025, Neymar’s net worth is estimated at around $350 million — meaning the inheritance would almost quadruple his fortune overnight.

The 33-year-old former Brazil captain took a major pay cut earlier this year when he rejoined boyhood club Santos after an injury-ravaged 18-month spell at Saudi side Al-Hilal, where he had been earning around $100m per year.

Before that, Neymar was on roughly €700,000 per week (just over €36m annually) at Paris Saint-Germain. His career has also brought in hundreds of millions through endorsements with brands such as Puma, Red Bull and Qatar Airways, along with record-breaking transfer deals, including his world-record €222m move from Barcelona to PSG in 2017.

In general, there is more money in football right now than ever before. For example, the recent transfer window saw Premier League clubs set a new record for combined summer spending as £3.2bn was splashed on new players.

Is Neymar the richest footballer in the world?

Despite his huge career earnings, Neymar is not football’s richest player.

That title belongs to Faiq Bolkiah, who currently plays in Thailand for Ratchaburi. His estimated $20bn fortune comes not from football, but from being a member of the Bruneian royal family.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi also remain ahead of Neymar in personal wealth, with both superstars believed to be worth just under $1bn each. By comparison, Neymar’s finances place him among the elite, but a potential $1bn inheritance would firmly cement his place near the very top of world sport’s rich list.
