Raphinha has turned down some spectacular offers from Saudi Arabian clubs as he remains focused on fulfilling an elusive dream with Barcelona.
The Brazilian forward is determined to win the UEFA Champions League with Barcelona. He has held on to this dream since he moved from Leeds United in the summer of 2022.
Since joining, Raphinha has become one of the most influential players at Barcelona. He has scored 60 goals — the same as Johan Cruyff — and claimed 48 assists in 157 official matches, winning five trophies.
Hansi Flick rates him highly, not only because of his attacking prowess, but also for his leadership ability and work rate.
Raphinha Is Determined to Win the Champions League With Barcelona
Raphinha has unlocked a new level of performance since moving to Catalonia, and as a result, many clubs have shown interest in signing him. Additionally, Barcelona’s financial struggles have sometimes made a move seem feasible.
However, according to Diario SPORT, Raphinha will not entertain a move until he wins the Champions League with Barcelona. He believes winning the ultimate European trophy is crucial to leaving an unforgettable mark on Barcelona’s history.
Raphinha and Barcelona looked on course to fulfil the dream last season. They finished second in the league standings, behind Liverpool, and marched on to the quarter-finals.

In the semi-finals, they played out an all-time classic with Inter Milan, with the two teams scoring 13 goals between them across two legs.
The Nerazzurri ultimately came out on top, beating the Catalans 7-6 on aggregate. Raphinha finished as the Champions League’s top scorer (13) and assist provider (9) last season.
Due to injuries, Raphinha has only played three games for Barca in Europe this season. Now, after recovery, the 29-year-old wants to go all in to win the trophy.
He is reportedly obsessed with the objective and is training every day to attain it at the end of the season.
If that happens, Raphinha is likely to consider a move away from Camp Nou.
Raphinha Admits Interest From Saudi Arabia Made Him Think
In the summer of 2024, Raphinha received a massive offer from Saudi Arabia, which, the Brazilian has admitted, was difficult to turn down.
However, after a meeting with Hansi Flick, Raphinha agreed to continue at Barcelona.
In an interview with ESPN Brazil, Raphinha said:
“The offer we received from Saudi Arabia made me hesitate a lot. It would have solved my personal life, my parents’ life, my son’s life, and the lives of many other people.

“I’ve been involved in football since I was 15, I’ve experienced good and bad times everywhere, and there came a point when I thought it was time to take care of myself and my family.”
Raphinha then discussed the Flick factor, saying he was thankful that he decided to stay.
“Obviously, I thought about leaving; I thought it might be time to go, but then we spoke with the coach [Hansi], first by phone and then at the start of preseason, and he managed to convince me to stay.”
Raphinha has now played 70 games under Flick. He has scored 40 goals and claimed 29 assists.
