Paddy Power Parody Mocks Ruben Amorim As Manchester United Struggles Continue

Manchester United transfer targets

Pressure is mounting on Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim after a poor start to the season — and bookmakers Paddy Power wasted no time in poking fun.

After a bruising 3-0 derby defeat to Manchester City, the Red Devils are just one win from their opening four Premier League fixtures.

United’s struggles have been compounded by an embarrassing Carabao Cup exit at the hands of League Two side Grimsby Town, leaving Amorim’s future increasingly uncertain.

The Portuguese coach has collected just 31 points from 31 league games since replacing Erik ten Hag last November.

Paddy Power Video Mocks Ruben Amorim with Alan Curbishley Cameo

Bookmakers Paddy Power have added fuel to the fire with a parody video mocking United’s current struggles.

The clip features former Charlton and West Ham boss Alan Curbishley, who jokingly positions himself as a managerial candidate before rejecting a call from United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

In the skit, Curbishley reckons he’s still capable of doing a job despite being out of management since 2008.

But when Ratcliffe’s name flashes up on his phone, he quickly declines the call and quips to his wife about getting a new number before tossing the phone in a bin.

Who is Alan Curbishley?

Alan Curbishley is best remembered for his 15-year spell in charge of Charlton Athletic, where he guided the club to two promotions and established them as a Premier League mainstay before stepping down in 2006.

He later managed West Ham United between 2006 and 2008 but has not returned to management since.

Now 67, Curbishley remains a familiar figure in English football, sometimes appearing as a pundit.

Is Ruben Amorim Under Pressure at Man Utd?

Amorim was brought in to steady the ship after United’s slide under Ten Hag, but the club’s decline has only continued.

Last season ended with their lowest-ever Premier League finish — 15th — while a Europa League final defeat to Tottenham meant no European football this term.

Despite being backed with almost £250 million in the summer transfer market, United’s performances remain flat.

Questions are mounting not only about Amorim’s tactical approach but also about whether the club’s structure, now partly overseen by Ratcliffe, is capable of supporting any manager.

It has reached the stage where fans and pundits alike are speculating over who could replace him if results don’t improve.

Even football betting sites have already begun pricing up potential successors, with the odds reflecting just how precarious Amorim’s situation looks so early in the campaign.

The Paddy Power parody might be tongue-in-cheek, but it taps into a real anxiety among United supporters: that the club has become a graveyard for managers.

From Jose Mourinho to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Erik ten Hag, high-profile coaches have all failed to halt United’s downward spiral.

Amorim is the latest to feel the heat, with his record now placing him under serious pressure before the season has even settled into rhythm.

Unless results improve quickly, the jokes from bookmakers could give way to genuine calls for change from inside Old Trafford.
