(Luis Fabiano, 27, Sevilla, Striker)
(Daniel Alves, 25, Sevilla, Right-back)
After the raid on Portugal of last summer, The Sun is reporting that Manchester United will be doing something similar this year to continue strengthening their Premier League champions’ squad. This time, it will be Spain that will be raided. Scouts at United have been watching Sevilla players Luis Fabiano and Daniel Alves very closely in the past months, and now Man Utd have decided to move for the two world-class players. They are estimated to cost the Red Devils £30 million, which is less than the amount spent last year, even though they are already world-class.
Fabiano will be a sensational addition to the Man Utd attack, also comprising of Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez and Manucho Goncalves. He has scored 33 goals in 38 matches this season. The club may face problems due to the fact that the striker’s ownership is not fully held by Sevilla, but also by a private company. At the age of 27, Luis Fabiano is at the best of his career and has the potential of challenging Cristiano Ronaldo for the top scorer award next season.
The other player, Daniel Alves, is regarded as the world’s best right-back. He is also a Brazilian, and at the age of 25, will provide a long-term, as well as immediate, heir to Gary Neville. Martin Ferguson, Alex’s brother, has watched the pair 10 times in the past 3 months and has suggested that Man Utd make their move now, before it is too late. Ferguson is the same man that spotted Anderson and Ruud van Nistelrooy for United. Liverpool and Chelsea have also targetted Alves in the past, but Chelsea have now acquired Bosingwa so they have basically pulled out of the race.
