Julien Escude is 28 years old and plays for Spanish La Liga club Sevilla. His best position is at centre-back. Escude started his career at Cannes in 1998 where he spent one season before moving to Rennes. Here he spent four seasons, until 2003, making 111 appearances. In 2003 he joined Ajax Amsterdam, playing for the Dutch club between 2003 and 2006, scoring 6 goals in 61 appearances. He has been at Sevilla since 2006.

Escude made his debut for France on the 11th October 2006 in a match against the Faroe Islands, which France won by the score of 5-0. In this match, fellow teammates Francois Clerc and Jeremy Toulalan also made their debut. Until today, he has made just 6 appearances for Les Blues. He suffered a recurrence to a groin injury earlier this month, which put his Euro 2008 appearance in jeopardy. However, he was named in the provisional squad of Raymond Domenech. We’ll just have to wait and see if Escude makes the final squad.
