Double Liverpool Injury Blow Leaves Arne Slot Without Seven Players For Tottenham Clash

Arne Slot Liverpool injury update

Liverpool could be missing as many as seven senior players against Tottenham this weekend after Arne Slot confirmed yet more worrying injury news.

This weekend was already set to be a tough fixture for defending champions Liverpool.

Arne Slot’s side have struggled for form and consistency all season, with just two wins in their last six Premier League games.

And now it has emerged that they could be missing up to seven front-line stars when they travel to Tottenham on Saturday.

Reds boss Slot only had 13 senior outfield players available for his side’s 2-0 win against Brighton at the weekend.

This forced the Dutch coach into naming fewer than the maximum of nine permitted substitutes.

Slot has sounded like a beaten man at times this season, but his side emerged victorious at the weekend.

But while Liverpool earned a much-needed victory against the Seagulls, it came at a price.

Two more senior players have picked up injuries, and are major doubts for this weekend.

Liverpool Injury Crisis Worsens Ahead Of Tottenham Trip

Defender Joe Gomez went off early at the weekend with a hamstring problem.

Dominik Szoboszlai then limped off after sustaining an ankle injury.

And while Mohamed Salah received a fitting send off as he came off the bench and appears to have buried some of his issues with Arne Slot, the Egyptian is also now unavailable due to the Africa Cup of Nations.

Slot’s eight-man bench against Brighton included youngsters Wellity Lucky and Calvin Ramsay – both yet to feature in the Premier League.

Liverpool injury news

Conor Bradley is back from suspension this weekend.

With options running thinner than ever, the return of Conor Bradley will be a welcome boost against Spurs.

The Northern Irish right-back missed the Brighton game due to suspension.

And summer arrival Jeremie Frimpong could potentially return, having been out since October with a hamstring issue.

But it looks certain that Slot will again have to rely on academy players to fulfil Saturday’s game.

Arne Slot Confirms Liverpool Injury News

Speaking after the Brighton win, Slot was not optimistic about the injury to Joe Gomez.

“If I have a player who goes off with a muscle injury like Joe [Gomez], that’s normally not a positive thing,” he said.

“I would not expect him to be in the squad next week [at Tottenham]. But sometimes you get a positive surprise.

“People now maybe understand a bit better why I was always so cautious not to play him so many games.

“I assume many people thought, ‘If you have a defender, if you have a right full-back, why don’t you play him?'”

On Szoboszlai, the Reds boss was more hopeful, however.

“And Dom, it was his ankle. It didn’t look great when I just saw him. But he has unbelievable mentality so let’s hope for the best.

“The good thing is that Conor Bradley comes back from a suspension and normally Jeremie Frimpong will train with us also.

“But we’re also going to miss Mo [Salah] because he is going to go to the Africa Cup of Nations.”

Elsewhere, Liverpool will remain without Cody Gakpo and Waturi Endo for the time being.

The pair are recovering well, but are not expected back for a few more weeks.

Giovanni Leoni is out for the season after an ACL rupture suffered in September’s EFL Cup win against Southampton.

The young defender underwent surgery, but is not expected back until next season.
