Newcastle are one of several clubs attempting to sign Hoffenheim winger Bazoumana Toure in the upcoming transfer window.
After a poor first half of the campaign, Eddie Howe’s Newcastle side are looking to strengthen.
The Magpies lost star striker Alexander Isak to Liverpool, and new arrival Yoane Wissa’s injury problems have limited his involvement since joining.
Both of these factors, along with other issues, have contributed to a highly disappointing few months at St. James’ Park.
Newcastle find themselves 14th in the Premier League table, nine points off the top four.
A lack of goals has been an obvious problem, despite bringing in Wissa, Jacob Ramsey, Nick Woltemade and Anthony Elanga.
Eddie Howe is therefore keen to bring in further firepower in January, and the club have identified an ideal target.
Newcastle Preparing Move For Bazoumana Toure
Bundesliga attacker Toure has been described as both ‘electric’ and ‘explosive’ recently.
The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international made his senior national debut in October.
He has become a regular for Hoffenheim this season, registering two goals and four assists in 14 appearances.
Toure has impressed clubs across Europe, attracting significant attention.

Manchester United are also thought to be admirers, but it’s Newcastle who hold the strongest interest.
The Magpies reportedly sent scouts to watch recent fixtures, and have begun making enquiries about signing the youngster.
Known for his breathtaking speed, Toure has been compared to current Newcastle winger Elanga, with some claiming he is even quicker.
However, his services will not come cheaply. Hoffenheim do not want to sell in January, and value the player at close to £40 million.
With the German outfit pushing towards European football, a summer exit feels like a more probable outcome.
Newcastle’s Faltering Attack Needs Additional Firepower
Following the loss os Isak over the summer, Newcastle’s attack has needed to adapt.
With Wissa missing most of the season so far, a lot of responsibility has fallen on Nick Woltemade.
The German’s seven Premier League goals have been vital, but not enough.
Newcastle’s injury problems have created more than a few headaches for Eddie Howe.
Forwards such as Elanga, Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes have shown their ability in patches, but lacked consistency.
All of this could play into Toure’s hands. The young forward would bring pace and excitement, while far from the finished article.
But given his high potential and the struggles of Newcastle’s current crop of wingers, this is a deal that could make a lot of sense.
