Tottenham Ticket Prices Then And Now: Spurs Still Among Premier League’s Most Expensive

Tottenham ticket prices

Tottenham ticket prices have always been among the highest in the Premier League – but just how much have they gone up over the years?

Watching live football in England used to be an affordable, working class activity, no matter the division.

But in recent decades, that has changed. The cost of football has risen sharply across the board.

As well as soaring ticket prices, clubs are charging more than ever for merchandise and amenities, while transport costs have also shot up.

And for those choosing to watch on TV from home, the situation is little better.

With multiple different subscriptions and streaming services needed to watch every game, fans are being ripped off left and right.

But while prices are steadily rising for everyone, some clubs charge far more than others.

And Tottenham have consistently been one of the most expensive teams in England to watch.

How Much Are Tottenham Premier League Tickets?

Tottenham’s ticket prices in the Premier League this season are among the most expensive of any side.

On their website, even the cheapest available sections of the stadium for February’s home fixture against Newcastle had adult tickets priced at £81.

A child’s ticket in an equivalent section is £40.50.

This means that a family of two adults and two kids would need to fork out an eye-watering £243.

And that figure is before any other costs such as transport, food, drink or merchandise are factored in.

With those additional costs included, the total spend is likely to be closer to double that.

Hardly the working-class day out that going to the football used to be.

For a similar cost, the same sized family could afford a three-night package holiday in Spain.

Tottenham Ticket Prices Then And Now

Spurs have always been amongst the biggest offenders when it comes to overpriced Premier League tickets.

They charged more than their rivals long before they moved into their billion-pound, state-of-the-art new stadium in 2019.

And despite their new venue, Tottenham’s home form in the league has been dreadful.

Even 27 years ago, the cost for two adults and two children for a Premier League game in 1999 was £125.33 – the most expensive in the league that season.

And if that figure is adjusted for inflation, it perfectly matches the £243 cost of today’s tickets.

Who Has The Most Expensive Tickets In The Premier League?

But while Spurs’ ticket prices have always been high, they are no longer the most expensive.

That dubious honour belongs to fellow London club Fulham.

The West London outfit charge at least £50 for a ticket, with prices averaging £105.

And Fulham’s most expensive standard adult ticket, located in their new Riverside Stand, comes in at a whopping £160.

It’s no surprise to see prices like these putting some fans off.

And given Tottenham’s recent performances in the Premier League, it’s hard to argue Thomas Frank’s team are delivering any value to their paying supporters.
