Bristol City striker Dele Adebola is set to leave the club in the summer.
The Nigerian international, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has been linked to a move away from the West Country since January, with an exit now looking likely.
BBC Radio Bristol has reported that the target man, 34, has turned down a one-year deal with Gary Johnson’s side.
Johnson told the station: “He plays his cards close to his chest but we offered a year and he said he could get somewhere else for two. We’ll work very hard to find a striker to take his place if that’s the case.”
Adebola is one of a number of players rumoured to be heading out of the club at the end of the season. Fan-favourite David Noble, currently on-loan at Yeovil, has already confirmed that he is set to leave, while Lee Trundle’s future is also unclear, after being left out for most of the season and sent to Leeds for a month in January. Shotstopper Chris Weale, also on loan at Yeovil, may want to leave to secure first team football, while Marvin Elliott and Bradley Orr are reportedly targets for a number of Premiership clubs.
Gary Johnson and Chairman Steve Lansdown have said in the past that the club is stable financially, and don’t have to sell their star assets.
