Antonio Rudiger Makes Real Madrid Decision Amid Interest from PSG

Antonio Rudiger

Real Madrid centre-back Antonio Rudiger has made a key decision regarding his future at the club amid interest from European champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Rudiger is in the final year of his contract and will become a free agent in June 2026. PSG believe Rudiger still can compete in Europe and are pushing to sign him.

Antonio Rudiger Turns Down PSG; Wants to Wait for Real Madrid

Antonio Rudiger joined Real Madrid on a free after running down his contract with Chelsea in July 2022. He has since played 163 games for Los Blancos, scoring seven goals and winning LaLiga as well as the UEFA Champions League.

Real Madrid were initially set to offer Rudiger a contract extension. However, the German’s fitness issues have caused them to reconsider. A new deal is not completely ruled out, but it appears unlikely at the moment.

Rudiger is well aware of his uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu and has enough offers on the table to engineer a January exit.

According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, PSG approached Antonio Rudiger’s representatives with an offer.

However, Rudiger politely turned them down, saying he was waiting for Real Madrid.

Rudiger is seeking clarity on his situation. He wants President Florentino Perez to either offer him a new contract or confirm that he is no longer required.

In addition to PSG, Galatasaray have registered their interest in the 32-year-old centre-back. Chelsea are also believed to be considering re-signing him.

What Next for Rudiger?

Rudiger has no shortage of offers at the moment. In addition to PSG, Chelsea, and Galatasaray, there is also significant interest from the Saudi Pro League.

The ever-increasing prominence of the Saudi Pro League has been one of the most defining moments of 2025. They have been prizing players away from big European clubs, and remain firmly in the race to sign Rudiger.

The former Chelsea defender is open to a potential move to Saudi Arabia, but he will only give a definitive answer after Real Madrid clarify their stance.

Club captain Dani Carvajal is also believed to be in the same boat as Rudiger. Carvajal, who has spent all his career at Real Madrid, will become a free agent in June 2026.

The club have a lot of affection for their captain but are unsure if he is fit enough to continue at the club. According to reports, Carvajal will not go to Saudi Arabia if his Real Madrid stint ends this summer, as he wants to stay close to family.

Los Merengues reportedly want Carvajal to make the call on his future. He could either continue at Madrid by sacrificing game time or move elsewhere to be welcomed as a marquee signing.

David Alaba also sees his contract expire in June. And unlike the other two defenders, he is certain to leave the Bernabeu. The Austrian has also been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.
