‘Arry worried about ‘Ammers

Harry Redknapp has slammed former Spurs manager Juande Ramos for cutting the size of the Tottenham squad too drastically in the summer transfer window. Harry made his comments before tonight’s London derby, as Tottenham look to bounce back from the Everton defeat with a win over Redknapp’s former club, West Ham.

Since his arrival, Redknapp has already reinstated players Ramos dropped in the summer, players such as Paul Stalteri, Kevin Prince Boateng and Hossam Ghaly.

“You need a squad and I feel this squad is a little bit short. If we could get one or two loans for people who can play at this level to thicken the squad up then that would be ideal,” Harry told journalists earlier today.

He also bemoaned the hectic Christmas schedule, saying: “It’s games galore.” We’re involved in too many competitions in all honesty. We’ve got the FA Cup to come too.”

Despite his small squad, Harry is hoping for a good result tonight, and is also hopeful of a warm welcome. He managed the Hammers for 7 years, quickly becoming a fan’s favourite.

“I’ve been back with Portsmouth a couple of times and got a fantastic reception,” said Redknapp. “I would hate that to change because the club will always be very close to my heart.”

“I’ve got so many friends who are West Ham supporters, I’ve got loads of memories about going there at 15, growing up there and going back to manage them. It’s a great club.”

However, despite the love affair between Redknapp and West Ham, Harry isn’t expecting an easy game.

“West Ham is always a tough place to go. Monday night at Upton Park under lights means a great atmosphere and great support.”

“It’s a big game and we want to keep climbing up that table.”

Tottenham are unbeaten against the Hammers since 2006’s ‘Lasagnegate’ incident. The lillywhite’s go into tonight’s game with a slightly weakened squad, Hutton is still out injured and Luka Modric is likely to miss out on a place.

However Wednesday night’s man of the match Aaron Lennon is fit and will almost definitely feature. He could prove the difference and it will be interesting to see how he links up with Darren Bent.

MY PREDICTION: I’m being optimistic: 2-1 to the Spurs.
