Arsenal Chairman Peter Hill-Wood insists he is not concerned after captain, Robin van Persie has claimed he is in no rush to discuss a new contract. The Dutchman has been on flying form for The Gunners, netting a goal in every Premier League appearances, proving a frontman Arsenal will want to hold on to.
The 28-year-old’s current deal is set to expire in 18 months time, and Van Persie admits he is not thinking about discussions over an extension. Taking a relaxed approach to the striker’s attitude, Peter Hill-Wood stays assured that van Persie will continue his time at the Emirates.
“He doesn’t want to talk about it at the moment and we are not troubling him,” Hill-Wood told the Daily Star.
“I think we will approach him near the end of the season.
“But we obviously hope that he will sign a new contract – I don’t see why he should not. I can’t believe he is unhappy with us.”
