Arsenal are on course to make UEFA Champions League history by becoming the first club to win all eight matches in the modern league phase.

The Gunners moved on to 21 points from seven games by beating Inter Milan 3-1 at the San Siro in Milan on Tuesday night.

Gabriel Jesus, who is keen to sign a new contract at Arsenal, scored twice in Milan, before Viktor Gyokeres also found the net.

Tuesday’s win followed victories over Athletic Bilbao, Olympiacos, Atletico Madrid, Slavia Prague, Bayern Munich and Club Brugge, while Arsenal will complete their league phase campaign at home to Kairat Almaty of Kazakhstan.

Arsenal equal Liverpool’s Champions League points record

Arsenal have now equalled the record for most points in the league phase of the Champions League. That was set last season when Liverpool took 21 points from their eight games at this stage. Liverpool ended the 2024/25 league phase with a goal difference of +12, while Arsenal’s is currently +18.

The Gunners need only to draw with Kairat next week to break Liverpool’s points record outright. However, Mikel Arteta’s side will be heavy favourites to beat Kairat, who lost 5-0 at home to Real Madrid earlier this season.

Arsenal rated as Champions League title favourites

Indeed, Arsenal are the favourites to win the whole tournament with most bookmakers right now.

The majority of UK betting sites rate the Gunners as 4/1 shots to end the 2025/26 season as the champions of Europe.

The other main contenders are Bayern Munich at 9/2, Manchester City at 7/1 and holders Paris Saint-Germain at 15/2. Barcelona are priced at 8/1, with Real Madrid at 9/1 and Liverpool the 10/1 seventh favourites.

Arsenal break club record for longest Champions League winning streak

Whatever happens, Arsenal have already set a new club record for their longest winning streak in the UEFA Champions League.

Prior to this season, they had never previously won seven straight Champions League matches.

The Gunners now need to win another four games to break the record for most consecutive wins by an English club. That currently belongs to Manchester City, who reeled off 10 straight victories between May 2023 and March 2024.

Mikel Arteta praises “courageous” Arsenal after beating Inter Milan

Manager Arteta was very impressed by his team during their streak-extending win away at Inter Milan.

He said afterwards: “I’m very happy, super proud of the players. We talked about doing something special tonight, and it was going to require a very, very complete performance to have the opportunity to win, and collectively, I think we understood the game really well.

“We had the right emotional control, the right aggression, and then individually I think we were super good, and we had some big, big individual performances. The level of courage we had to show, the conviction. If you really want to help this team, it has to be there.

“There are some risks, and you know that [Inter] have the capacity to open you up very well in the manner that they played. But we knew that we could hurt them as well, but we had to be really consistent.”

Even if they lose to Kairat next week, Arsenal are guaranteed to finish in first place in the league phase of the Champions League. Arsenal will not get a trophy for topping the Champions League table.

However, they will get home advantage in the second leg of every two-legged contest throughout the knockout phase.
