Arsenal: Gunners down West Brom at Emirates

Arsenal don’t need to batman to help them get to the top, they got Robin, Arteta and Vermaelen. Each players netted three home for the gunners, Van Persie scored his thirteenth and setup Arteta’s and Vermaelen’s. Van Persie’s twenty second minute opener made him EPL’s top marksmen.

Last time out West Brom snatched a three goal lead, leaving them 3-2 winners at Emirates. West Brom manager Roy Hodgson stated that his team looked beaten heading on to the pitch, “What they did do was put in one hell of a shift. We had to. That accusation borders on the scandalous. The shape of the team was good and when we were undone, we were undone by quality,” he said.

With Walcott’s shot saved by the West Brom goalkeeper Ben Foster, Van Persie picked it up and tapped it in. Van Persie setup Vermaelen’s goal six minutes before half-time. A deep cross from Alex Song left Van Persie hooked it back for Vermaelen which he put into the net from ten yards out. Arteta wrapped it up in the seventy fourth minute from another assist from the one an only Robin Van Persie. Andre Santos’s cross gave Van Persie the opertunity to guide it in for Arteta, which he finished delightfully, wrapping up the game at Emirates stadium

Vermaelen had his first start for Arsenal for approximately two months and came back with a bang. Vermaelen also denied a late goal for West Brom, with a magnificent tackle on Somen Tchoyi.

West Brom star Peter Odemwingie and his fellow teammates Paul Scharner and Shane Long meant that West Brom were going to play not at full strength.

Arsenal is seventh on the ladder sharing equal points with Liverpool and London rivals Tottenham with a record of WWWWL. West Brom drop to thirteenth place on the Premier League table with a current record of LLWWD. Arsenal has Norwich, Fulham, Wigan, Everton and Manchester City, one of them being home and the rest away. West Brom host Bolton, Tottenham and Wigan at home, they also have QPR and Blackburn away.
