Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a move for Real Madrid midfielder Rafael Van der Vaart. The Dutch international was a regular in the Madrid first team, making 32 appearances last season. However, following the expensive acquisitions of Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Xabi Alonso, Van der Vaart and his Dutch team-mates Wesley Sneijder, Royston Drenthe and Ruud Van Nistlerooy have been deemed surplus to requirements at the Bernabau this season. Van der Vaart has publicly said that he wants a move to the Premier League, and although Liverpool, Chelsea and Aston Villa have all expressed an interest, the report in the Mail On Sunday broadens rumours that he is on his way to The Emirates Stadium.
