Czech Republic captain Tomas Rosicky will miss Euro 2008 as he requires surgery on his injured hamstring.
Rosicky has been carrying the injury since January and had been hoping to recover in time for the Euro Tournament but has recently had to admit defeat.
“I must announce that I will not be capable of playing at Euro 2008. My injury requires surgery which I will undergo at the start of next week,” Rosicky told CTK.
“There is no other solution to the problem than undergoing surgery.”
In some other news Gilberto Silva has revealed that he wants to stay at Arsenal for next season and has his eyes set on Flamini’s spot in the team. Gilberto has not been a continueous starter for Arsenal for a couple of seasons and it looked like he was going to leave.
This is what he had to say:
“I plan to return to the club after my holiday because I do not have any other offer.
“I hope to stay, but I am not sure because I don’t know what the club are thinking.”
