Arsenal Title Contenders?

Cast your mind back to Sunday 7th November and Arsenal had just been beaten 0-1 at home to Newcastle United.

It was all doom and gloom at the Emirates, Chelsea were going strong and looking unbeatable especially at home. Now fast forward two weeks and all is looking rosy in the red side of North London. So what’s changed?

Well for a start the Gunners have not played at home for the past two Premier League encounters against Wolves and Everton. They have struggled at home this season especially against the newly promoted sides, but they seem to find something different on their travels, a real strength, determination and togetherness. If this can be transferred to the Emirates then the Gunners are real title contenders this year.

I look at the squad and this is by far the strongest it has been for five or six years. You only need to look at the bench on Sunday against the Toffees to see that there are real options for Wenger to pick from. When you can leave both Theo Walcott and Robin Van Persie on the bench and still come out 1-2 winners that sends out a real statement to the rest of the Premier League.

The squad in whole looks very healthy and they have some top young players coming through into the 1st team squad. We know all about Jack Wilshere, but you also have to look at  Wojciech Szczesny, Aaron Ramsey, Kieran Gibbs, Henri Lansbury to name but a few.

The goalkeeping situation has been a major talking point for all Arsenal fan’s and I still feel they need a ‘world class’ goalie but the fact that Fabianski is now playing regularly, its paying off as he has been outstanding especially the last couple of games.

When you also consider that they still have Vermaelen, Ramsey, Diaby to come back, there will be a lot more options at Wenger’s disposal. If Arsenal can keep the injuries to a minimum get the momentum and consistency a title winning team require then the Premier League trophy maybe heading back to Arsenal

The future looks very good for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger.
