van Persie scores in last season's fixture

Arsenal host Sunderland in a clash that could be described as Arsenal’s most important game of the season.
A win here is absolutely vital for The Gunners as at least one of their two rivals for fourth spot will have to drop points this weekend when they face each other at Villa Park. Before kickoff Arsenal will know the score of the Chelsea Villa game  so will know how much they can cut the gap with a win.
Failure to win here would perhaps send Arsenal to the Europa League next season as Chelsea and Villa won’t have to face each other again whilst Arsenal still have the top 3 to play.
Arsenal must capitalise on every slip-up by their rivals as the season is nearing an end and every week in which Arsenal fail to close the gap it becomes that one bit harder to do it.
This could be the perfect day for Arsenal in which they can cut the gap between them and 4th place to just two points. On the other hand, the gap could increase to 7 points. That in itslef demonstrates just how vital a win is tomorrow.

However, it’s going to be even harder to win than before as Eduardo has been ruled out with a hamstring. Arsenal could have really done with Eduardo with Adebayor injured and especially after his great performance agianst Cardiff. Arsenal won’t have the same attacking threat without him.
Arshavin however, is expected to make his debut at some point and Eboue is back from suspension.

Hopefully the spirit and belief is back in the team after the demolition of Cardiff and hopefully this will steer Arsenal to a victory tomorrow, a victory that will be a massive stride for Arsenal in terms of making that top four, and the Champions League. A trophy which I feel, a club like Arsenal really have to be playing in.

Last seasons fixture: Arsenal 3-2 Sunderland
This seasons first fixture: Sunderland 1-1 Arsenal
