Arsenal and Manchester United both have agreed terms for the prolific Dutch striker Robin Van Persie. The transfer fee is reported to be in the region of £24 million, which is a considerably amount for a 29 year old into his last year of contract.
The Dutch Striker is likely to undergo a medical on Thursday and join the Red Devils before the start of the new campaign.
Manchester United seem to have beaten the likes of their city rivals and Italian giants for the signature of Arsenal’s best player last season. Now what could it mean to both Arsenal and Manchester United is still to be seen in the upcoming months!
So guys it’s a feeling of deja vu all over again for Arsenal Fan’s. Yet again another top player is to leave the club due to the club’s so called lack of ambition. And this time around this player happens to be Robin Van Persie, Arsenal’s best player of the season 2011-2012 scoring a whooping 37 goals last season and in the view of many pundits the reason why Arsenal finished in the top four.
I would like to disagree with that as I think there was a lot more to Arsenal last season than just RVP, anyway that’s a different debate all together. So then, Why is this happening again?
Who to blame? Wenger, the board, the owners ???
To be honest I cant really answer that cause I simply dont know who to blame. It’s now seven years without a trophy, we have seen the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy and many others depart the club, all claiming that it is about the ambition, the titles and not the money and all that BS!
Well I respect Cesc Fabregas for how he handled his departure, his love for the club and I understand his move, he moved to his boyhood club after giving his absolute best for the Gunners and not to forget the pay cut he took for the move to go through, so it was genuinely for silverware and not money!
Then there is Samir Ca$hri, well I dont need to say much about a player who was a nobody until Arsenal bought him, he showed promise in his initial few seasons and then had a very impressive last season for the Gunners and then City jumped in with a promise of a doubled wage and the guy didn’t even think twice about it!

Now it leaves us with RVP, great last couple of seasons, scoring goals (“he scores when he wants”, “who needs batman when we have robin”) and now less than a year left on his contract and moving away from the Emirates.
I do kind of understand his desire to win trophies as he is at his peak at not many great years to follow probably so he would want to go somewhere with a certainty of winning trophies and come on a little pay rise doesn’t hurt. So I am ok with that but the thing that disappoints is the number of injury struck seasons he has had but still the club, the manager and the fans supporting him all those times and it would be nice to give them something back when they are in desperate need.
We have made decent signings this year and the squad as a whole looks good without rvp, him staying would have been an absolute bonus and would have left us with an amazing chance of winning something this year, but it isn’t to be.
