Barcelona have reportedly identified Manchester City striker Omar Marmoush as a potential long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski.
The Polish striker is out of contract in June 2026, and Barca believe Marmoush has the potential to excel in Hansi Flick’s system.
Omar Marmoush Unhappy at Manchester City
Manchester City paid a hefty €75 million fee to sign Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025.
The Egyptian forward did well in his debut campaign, scoring seven goals and providing two assists in 16 Premier League matches. With Erling Haaland struggling with injuries, Marmoush got enough minutes to make an impact.
Omar Marmoush has no plans to leave Manchester City in January and instead intends to stay at the club and fight for his place.

This season, Haaland has been at the top of his game, scoring 20 goals in 21 matches. As a result, Marmoush’s playing time has been reduced, with him only playing 206 minutes of Premier League football before leaving for AFCON.
The signing of Antoine Semenyo could further complicate matters for Marmoush.
According to El Nacional, Marmoush is not happy at Manchester City, as he believes he will never be a starter as long as Haaland is fit and firing.
People close to the player are seriously studying the option of securing a transfer in the summer transfer window.
Deco Wants to Bring Marmoush to Barcelona
Barcelona Sporting Director Deco is aware of Omar Marmoush’s situation and sees an excellent market opportunity.
Marmoush is an excellent finisher, links up superbly with his teammates, and possesses excellent movement off the ball. Marmoush himself believes he is better than Mohamed Salah, one of the most prolific players in African football history.
Deco and Barcelona believe Marmoush could be as impactful as Julian Alvarez, who has been one of Barca’s long-standing targets. However, signing Alvarez is a complex operation, as Atletico Madrid do not want to sell him to a direct rival.
Additionally, the player is happy in the Spanish capital, and Barca do not have the financial might to force Atletico to sell.
Has to be goal of the season right?

Signing Marmoush, on the other hand, seems more straightforward. The Egypt international has a long-term contract with Man City, but Barca believe City could sell the player for €60 million if he asks to leave.
As for Robert Lewandowski, Barcelona do not see value in extending the striker’s contract. They believe Lewandowski’s age (37) is starting to become a limiting factor.
Hansi Flick wants a young, dynamic striker to compete with Ferran Torres, and at this time, Marmoush is the best option available.
According to reports, Lautaro Martinez is also on Barcelona’s radar, but the club will have to pay a considerably higher transfer fee to get the Argentine striker.
The next few weeks could prove to be crucial in the Marmoush transfer saga.
