Barcelona have now beaten Real Madrid in eight finals after getting the better of their fierce rivals to win the 2026 Supercopa de España.
However, Real Madrid still lead the all-time head-to-head when it comes to Clasicos in finals.
Barcelona win Supercopa de España after beating Real Madrid in Clasico classic
Barcelona edged a five-goal classic to beat Real Madrid 3-2 in the 2026 Supercopa final in Saudi Arabia.
La Liga champions Barcelona had booked their spot in the final by thrashing Athletic Bilbao 5-0 on Wednesday, before Real Madrid saw off city rivals Atletico Madrid 2-1 the following day.
Raphinha opened the scoring 36 minutes into the final and later netted the winner in the second half. The other three goals all came in first-half stoppage time, with Vinicius Junior, Robert Lewandowski and Gonzalo Garcia getting their names on the scoresheet.
There have now been exactly 90 goals in finals contested between Barcelona and Real Madrid. Barcelona have scored 40 of those goals, while the 2026 Supercopa was only the eighth trophy they have won by beating Real Madrid in the final.
Real Madrid have beaten Barcelona in 11 previous finals, including seven in the Supercopa.

Real Madrid still lead Barcelona in Supercopa finals head-to-head
Despite their defeat in the 2026 edition, Real Madrid’s head-to-head record against Barcelona in Supercopa finals remains strong.
The capital club beat Barcelona over two legs in 1988, 1990, 1993 and 1997, before losing a Clasico classic 5-4 on aggregate in 2011.
Real Madrid then won the 2012 final on the old away goals rule after losing 3-2 at the Camp Nou and then winning 2-1 at the Bernabeu.
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo both scored in the 2017 Supercopa final, which Real Madrid won 5-1 on aggregate.
But despite Real Madrid’s superior record against Barcelona when meeting in Supercopa finals, Barcelona actually have the edge since the final became a one-off match.
Barcelona thrashed Real Madrid 5-2 in the 2025 Supercopa final. They also beat Real Madrid 3-1 in 2023, but lost 4-1 in 2024.

Barcelona and Real Madrid have beaten each other in four Copa del Rey finals apiece
Away from the Supercopa, Real Madrid and Barcelona have not yet met in a European final. However, they have clashed on eight occasions in the final of the Copa del Rey.
Last season’s final ended in a 3-2 win for Barcelona after Jules Kounde scored the decisive goal late in extra time in Seville.
Real Madrid had previously defeated their fierce rivals in 2014 and 2011, but Barcelona still have the edge over Real Madrid when it comes to their head-to-head record in Copa del Rey finals, having recorded victories in 1990, 1983, 1968 and 1936 — when the two teams contested their first ever competitive final against each other.

When will Barcelona and Real Madrid next meet in a final?
Both Barcelona and Real Madrid are still in the Copa del Rey this season, so a meeting in the 2025/26 final remains a possibility.
The same is true in Europe. At the time of writing, the first-ever Clasico Champions League final cannot be ruled out.
However, due to the number of rounds and teams involved in the respective tournaments, it is highly likely that the 20th Clasico final will again come in the Supercopa.
For now, both teams will reset their focus to La Liga, where Barcelona are well positioned to win back-to-back titles for the first time since 2019.
Barcelona’s recent dominance is highlighted by the fact that they finished 10 points clear of Real Madrid in La Liga’s calendar year table for 2025.
