*Berbatov Update* Real Madrid join the party

The Berbatov transfer saga just keeps going on and on with more twists and turns than a rollercoaster at Alton Towers. Just moments after I post that Manchester City have had a £37mil bid accepted for Berbatov, Real Madrid have jumped in with a £35mil bid.

Manchester United’s new bid, meanwhile, looks pathetic in comparison; £20mil plus Frazier Campbell. Peanuts.

Spurs look set to accept Madrid’s bid, but it all depends on a number of other deadline day transfers.  I’ve attempted a little ‘deadline-day’ transfer diagram.

ROBINHO (REAL MADRID TO CHELSEA)

BERBATOV (TOTTENHAM TO REAL MADRID)

VILLA (VALENCIA TO TOTTENHAM)

So a lot does depend on transfers round Europe. I think Berbatov would much rather join Madrid, as they can provide the oppurtunity to play Champions league football, but they have offerd £2mil less then City. I don’t think this will matter to Spurs, as if he joins Madrid, we’ll probably never have to face him. But if he joins City or United…

I’m just loving seeing United fan’s reactions on various forums across the internet. After being so sure that they’d cornerd us in the Berbatov transfer, they’ve really been left with egg on their face.

I dare say I’ll be posting again in 5 minutes with another crazy update, like Colchester United have enterd the race for Berba and have offerd £50mil, or that Hartlepool have had a bid accepted. Thinking about it so much has happened in the last 2 hours, who knows…
