With the January transfer window just two weeks away, we take a look at the newest transfer talk coming out of the Bundesliga.
Bundesliga Transfer Talk
Hugo Larsson from Frankfurt to Brighton
Frankfurt could potentially be dealt a big blow in the January transfer window with their sensational, skilful Swedish central-midfielder being heavily linked with a move away from Deutsche Bank Park.
Despite only two attacking returns (A2) across all competitions this season, the midfield maestro played a big part in Eintracht Frankfurt qualifying for the 2025/26 Champions League phase campaign.
Larsson, who can take away the game from his opposition by controlling the contest from the middle of the pitch, however, could be on the move next month.
Also linked with a move to fellow Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund, the Sweden international appears more likely to switch alliances to the Premier League, with the south coast club potentially his preferred destination.
Brighton lost the services of Valentín Barco to Strasbourg in the summer and appear not to have replaced the positional gap left by the Argentinian. That could be one of the reasons why Seagulls’ manager Fabian Hürzeler could be in the market for someone of Larsson’s qualities, if not Larsson himself.
Oskar Pietuszewski from Jagiellonia Białystok to Cologne
Despite being only 17 years old, Pietuszewski is already turning the heads of clubs across the top five leagues in Europe, including newly-promoted Bundesliga outfit Cologne.
The wing wizard from the left in his native Poland is already a Polish Super Cup winner, and has participated in 22 matches already across all competitions this season.
With rumours swirling that Köln could lose their own wonderkid, Said El Mala, with the teen wonder on Man City’s radar for a potential move in January, the Billy Goats could look to ram raid Pietuszewski to replace the German.
If Cologne do end up losing El Mala, there is every chance that Jagiellonia Białystok could see Pietuszewski depart.
The academy graduate has already provided three goals and two assists in the top flight of Polish football throughout the 2025/26 campaign. So, the potential loss of El Mala could be subsidised by the addition of Pietuszewski.
Xaver Schlager from Leipzig to Juventus
Another central midfielder who could be on the move from the Bundesliga is Leipzig’s Schlager. The Austrian international has been a regular entity in the middle of the park for the Red Bulls so far in 2025/26.
A move away from the Red Bull Arena would be a bit of a surprise after Schlager only played 181 minutes of Bundesliga football last season. Schlager was unfortunately banished to the treatment room with no less than three extended injury absences. First, he suffered a cruciate ligament tear before succumbing to complications from a separate knee injury.
His 2024/25 campaign was compounded by a muscle complaint that forced the midfielder to miss the final eight matches of the campaign. However, his injury worries, touch wood, seem to be a thing of last season, with 13 appearances across all competitions so far this year.
So, could Juventus now be willing to take a gamble on the Austrian with a reported price tag of £10million being thrown around?
