51 minutes gone into the big game on Sunday it was Chelsea 3-0 Manchester United, Manchester City at that point had a 3 point gap and the Red Devil’s goal difference was taking a massive hit and you could only see it getting worse but thanks to an outstanding fight back from United and an incredible 40 minutes from Wayne Rooney they clawed back a point and come Sunday the 13th of May around 5pm we could be saying that won United they’re 13th Premier League title.
When Chelsea went 3-0 up the thought that ran through my head was will Torres get the 4th goal for Chelsea and what bottle of wine will Man City send to Chelsea to say thanks for beating United for us. Chelsea came out in firing in the 2nd half and were like the Chelsea of old and were playing against at that point a United side that looked lost and out of it.
But as soon as we were writing off the 12 time champions of the Premier League that never say die attitude of Manchester United kicked in and that if Man City thought at 3-0 down the Red Devils grip on the title was going to loosen they had another thing coming because United will have to be pulled away from the title with a tug boat.
Thanks to a soft penalty which was stuck away from Rooney brilliantly the game changed and when Scholes came on for United with less than 30 minutes to play he started to pull the strings and with some brilliant passes and great movement to be up there with where the ball was Man United went into over drive.
Another soft penalty came Man United’s way, I can see why it was a penalty but it was soft but Rooney put it away and from that point Chelsea were throwing it away and were letting United come at them and they come back was complete when Hernandez headed in and an amazing game finished 3-3.
I know United only got a draw and a point from this game but I can see it being a huge moment in the title race because it shows the attitude of the United players and the fight that they have in them to come back from 3-0 down, away from home and to a top 6 side was something special.
If Manchester City ever needed any sort of a reminder, and it’s highly unlikely they do that they can’t take the foot off the gas and really can’t let up in the title race to their neighbours across the City it’s because of games like Chelsea 3-3 Manchester United.
I know that they’ll be many more twists and turns in the run in towards the end of the season in the fight for the title but I see this point for Manchester United so important and the manner of the result because United can take great heart from the fight they have in them.
If Manchester City think its going to get any easier and Manchester United will let up they only have to watch the 2nd half of Chelsea 3-3 Manchester United to see the fight is only going to get harder.
