Chelsea v Manchester United FA Cup Quarter Final Replay Preview

Chelsea successfully earned a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford earlier this month in a spectacular second half comeback in the FA Cup quarter-final which meant there would be a replay match at Stamford Bridge. Manchester United looked to bounce back from their disappointing exit in the UEFA Champions League against Real Madrid and they netted two early goals from Hernandez and Rooney to make it 2-0 making a place in the semi-final looking more certain but goals from Hazard and Ramires in the second half earned the Blues a well earned re-match.

Highlights from the draw at Old Trafford

In the last four FA Cup Finals Chelsea have won three of them which further asserts their dominance and position as favourites to progress from the replay at Stamford Bridge this Easter Monday. The last time Manchester United won the FA Cup was in 2004 beating Millwall in the final as the Red Devils look to make it a double for their season after breaking fifteen points away from second placed Man City in the Premier League, making a twentieth title a practical certainty.

Manchester United also play at the Stadium of Light and Chelsea play at St. Marys Stadium on Saturday in the Premier League which offer slight selection troubles for Sir Alex and Rafa Benitez as to who to rest for the Premier League ties. Sir Alex may field a team of youth against the Mackems as Rooney and van Persie may need rests after both scoring in the UEFA Qualifying group stage matches against Montenegro and Romania. For Chelsea Hazard scored against Macedonia and they may field a stronger team as they look to book a place in the Champions League for next season.

Ramires and Gary Cahill are still out though injury for Chelsea which may see Lampard start in the midfield along with Mata, Hazard and Mikel and Manchester United’s Phil Jones, Nani, Paul Scholes and Darren Fletcher are out with injuries which may see a 4-3-3 formation for Sir Alex’s side. A Chelsea win is sitting at 2.35 and a Manchester United win at 2.75 at which further gives Chelsea the upper hand and in the last match between the two sides Chelsea won 5-4 in a League Cup match earlier this season.

Fans of the side who do win the replay should check out Ticket bis for semi-final tickets against Manchester City as they have a wide range of sports tickets, whoever is on the look-out though really is up in the air as Chelsea look to win consecutive FA Cup titles and Manchester United are chasing a League and Cup double which was last seen in the 1995-96 season where Eric Cantona scored a 85th minute winner in a 1-0 win against bitter rivals Liverpool at Wembley.
