City Stumble Against The Swans

Bristol City’s recently-torrid record extended to only 2 wins in 11 games this afternoon, with another 0-0 home draw, this time against Swansea.

The game saw the possibility of Lee Trundle lining up against his old side for the first time since his £1 million pound move over the Severn Bridge last summer.

However, Trundle would not get on until the second half, replacing Nicky Maynard after 71 minutes.

But even the man known as ‘magic daps’ failed to score for Bristol City who are facing similar problems to last season in that they continue to misfire in front of goal.

There was late controversy as Marvin Elliott’s header, apparently going over the line, was ruled out.

However, a win for Bristol City would have been harsh on the away side who, although hardly spectacular themselves, probably deserved the point.

The Welsh side created their best chances in the second half with Bristol City’s Adriano Basso forced into some excellent diving saves.

His opposite number, Dorus De Vries, was also on good form, picking out most of Bristol City’s crosses as well as making some decent saves, most notably from a Stern John strike in the second half.

While Gary Johnson told BBC Bristol that ‘I thought we were one goal away from a good win’, the lack of goals will be a worry to the Bristol City manager.

Fans are calling for Johnson to make some moves in the January Trasnfer Window or lose any hope of reaching the playoffs and emulating last season’s success.
