Following an impressive first season with Tottenham, Croatia defender Vedran Corluka has recommended compatriot Darijo Srna to Harry Redknapp. Srna would provide stiff competition on the right side of both defence and midfield, whilst also providing more than adequate cover on the left. However Corluka isn’t worried about his Croatia team-mate taking his position. He said:
“I know that Harry Redknapp is keen on Srna and would not be surprised if Tottenham go for him.
“I would play in the middle of defence if that were the case.
“We’ll see what Darijo’s plans are, but it seems that there are plenty of offers, which is no surprise given his quality.
“There is plenty written and spoken about changes at the club.
“It is possible that five or six players will go, but I think that we need at least two or three new signings if we are to increase our ambitions.”

Corluka and Srna would form an immense partnership
A huge part of the reason Corluka made the move down south after a one year stint with Manchester City was the persuasion of the first Croatian to sign for Spurs, and also best friend, Luka Modric. So it comes as no surprise that Corluka could be trying to do the same with Srna.
Darijo Srna has been at Shakhtar Donetsk since 2003, growing somewhat attached to the Ukrainian club. But winning the UEFA Cup could have been the perfect way to say goodbye. The 27-year-old is currently ranked second in his nation’s all time leading goalscorer list, and was linked with a move to the North London outfit last summer, but he become just one of a million reported deals not to go through at White Hart Lane.

Srna being challenged by Jon Obika when the two clubs met in the UEFA Cup last season
The UEFA Cup winner played against Spurs in last season’s competition, in which the eventual champions went through 3-1 on aggregate, and next season could be taking to the field at White Hart Lane in a white shirt. Srna would most definitely improve the squad; his versatility and ability never being questioned. Though there are no doubt going to be a whole host of top clubs chasing his signature.
