Chesterfield fans entered Saltergate hoping that the Spireites could clinch their place in Sundays FA cup 2nd round draw, but it wasn’t to be.
4 minutes in Jack Lester headed home a Wade Small free-kick to give Chesterfiedl the perfect start. Almost immediatly Bournemouth attacked, and only 3 minutes after Chesterfield’s opener Bournemouth were level, Sammy Igoe shooting brilliantly into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
After a period of end to end action Alan Connell scored to give the Cherries a 2-1 lead going into the break.
At half-time Wade Small went off injured, he was replaced by Derek Niven. Just before the hour mark Mark Little got a booking that would have an affect later on in the game. Shortly after the booking Alan Connell got his 2nd of the game and almost certainly guarenteed Bournemuth’s place in the 2nd round. Mark Little’s nasty challenge on Josh McQuoid earnt him a 2nd yellow card and a suspension which manager John Sheridan – who was manager of the month for October – didn’t need at this time. Bournemouth saw out the game and it will be them that will be in the pot for Sundays cup draw.
