Dropped: Alou Diarra

Alou Diarra is a 26-year old defensive midfielder who currently plays for Bordeaux. He has Malian descent but was born in France in Villepint. In his 9-year football career until today, he has played for 8 clubs! Diarra started playing at the youth academy of CS Louhans-Cuiseaux in 1997 and signed a professional contract with the same club in 1999. After this, he went on to play for Bayern Munich (no first-team appearance), Liverpool (no first-team appearance), Le Havre and SC Bastia (on loan from Liverpool), RC Lens (66 appearances, 4 goals), Olympique Lyon (14 appearances, 1 goal) and Bordeaux (since the 19th July 2007, joining for a fee of €7.75 million).

For the French national squad, Alou made his debut on the 4th October 2004 against the Republic of Ireland. In total, he made 12 appearances for the French national team until now. The last match in which he played was the friendly against Ecuador on the 27th May 2008, and he didn’t do enough to impress Domenech and make the 23-man squad for Euro 2008. Unless there are injuries, Diarra will not feature in Euro 2008 for France.
