Why Ebere Eze Arsenal Transfer Comments Might Irritate Tottenham After Tug Of War

Will Eze Play Tonight

Ebere Eze chose Arsenal this summer the moment he knew a move to his boyhood club was on the table.

The talented England international made the move to the Emirates to sign for the team he grew up supporting following a bit of a transfer saga throughout the window.

It was a move worth around £64million for the 27-year-old and one he had been dreaming about since he was a kid released by the club and forced to move on.

Of course, Eze would make a name for himself at Queen’s Park Rangers and then at Crystal Palace and work his way back, but it all could have been a lot different had this year’s market played out in another way.

We told you how it was not only the Gunners who had made a play to land the creative attacker but also Spurs with manager Thomas Frank looking to bring Eze to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as one of the key cogs in his new look attack.

Ebere Eze reveals he is ‘grateful’ to have signed for Arsenal

The North London outfit attempted to make a deal but Eze preferred Arsenal and that was that.

Now the playmaker has opened up on the transfer speculation and interest surrounding his summer and explained how he feels he has made the right decision.

The ex-Wycombe Wanderers loanee also revealed how it never had him feeling stressed or worried, because all he could do was stick to what he does best.

“Worried? No. Because I play football,” Eze said when quizzed on what transpired before his move.

“That’s what I do and wherever I am, I want to be the best I can be and I’m confident I’ll do that wherever I am.

“I’m grateful that it’s Arsenal and that I’ve got the opportunity to play there and do what I do and I’m looking forward to it.

Spurs missed out on Eze in summer transfer window

“There’s a lot going on, it’s fun for me. This is why I play football. These are opportunities that you want. This is for me so I am enjoying it as much as I can. And do what I can.”

Eze’s comments will sit well with fans of his club but it is across the city where Spurs watch on and may not be particularly pleased with what has been said.

It is understandable, of course, that Eze is relieved to be at Arsenal but Spurs missing out on his signature will still likely be a sore spot considering they could not get their man.

That being said, the £64m earmarked for Eze at Spurs was spent on Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.
