Xavi Simons has reportedly made his decision on where he will play his football this season.
The Dutchman jetted into England this week, according to reports in Germany, as he looked to line up his next move.
It was between Tottenham Hotspur and their rivals Chelsea who were both admirers of the 22-year-old with the Blues holding a long-term interest in the playmaker.
The North London club, meanwhile, have been newcomers to the race and it is being reported by transfer gurus David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano that Simons has chosen Spurs as his next destination.
The situation is that €60million will be the fee Spurs pay to his club RB Leipzig as they settled an agreement overnight following discussions and negotiations.
Xavi Simons chooses Tottenham over Chelsea
It is news that will come as a relief to Spurs fans who have watched their side have a number of deals hijacked already this summer.
We told you how Spurs were interested in Eberechi Eze as the Crystal Palace star got ready to make a big money move after thriving with the Eagles for five years.
Manager Thomas Frank wanted the England international in the door at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but the 27-year-old would instead make what was a dream move to the Gunners in a £64million switch.
Spurs were also said to be interested in Ecuador defender Piero Hincapie but now he also looks ready to move to the Emirates in a £55m deal as they chase the Premier League title again this term.
They have now, however, completed a gazump of their own on Chelsea who had been keeping a close eye on Simons’ circumstances for months.
The Blues have been desperate to bring the player to Stamford Bridge and have not made any secret about their appreciation of his talents.
Other Spurs and Chelsea transfer targets this summer
Simons, too, had initially been hopeful of making the transfer happen but that all changed dramatically and quickly after Spurs made their interest known and Daniel Levy moved fast to get it done.
According to multiple reports online, Chelsea had been forced to wait before they could push forward with an effort for Simons.
The wait was to allow them to move players on to free up more funds to land Simons as well as another of their long-term targets, Alejandro Garnacho of Manchester United.
The Argentinian has now agreed the move to London.
Tottenham, meanwhile, also still like Manchester City winger Savinho.
But to land the 22-year-old, their offer would have to be strong considering City do not want to sell their wide player.
