As Puma continue their dominance in the African market, Egypt are one of eleven teams on the continent whose kits for the 2010 African Cup of Nations have been manufactured by the brand. The home shirt, which is in Egypt’s traditional red, will be accompanied by white shorts and black socks. The home colours will be used in their group clashes with Nigeria and Benin.
The mesh material covering both sleeves and part of the back of the shirt are clearly built to combat the tough climates posed by Angola. The shirt is also tight fitting, for similar reasons.
To celebrate Egypt’s rich history as a nation, there is a pharaoh draped across the right shoulder; a fitting selection for the side known as the ‘Pharaohs’. The sleeves feature black triangular cuffs, and the Puma logos appear in the centre of the shirt and on either sleeve. The badge has effectively been bombarded with stars, six to be precise, commemorating Egypt’s six ANC wins.
