Fabianski Commits To Wenger’s Vision

Arsenal number two Lukasz Fabianski has recently signed a new “long term” contract following a differential 2008/09 campaign.

The young Pole was at fault for the demise of his side at the hands of Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final, but has also put in a string of fine displays -noteably against Villareal after coming on as a substitute for the crocked Manuel Almunia.

As well as pulling of fine saves in the 4-4 draw with Liverpool, Fabianski cemented his place as the clubs “cup ‘keeper” by featuring in all of the Gunners domestic cup fixtures.

Despite his somewhat erratic form this term, the former Legia Warsaw man has claimed the Polish number one jersey in a nation that features some outstanding goalkeeping talen such as Celtic’s Artur Boruc and Real Madrid’s Jerzy Dudek.

Following criticism from the cutting British press, Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger has backed Fabianski to come good and was understandably delighted to secure the promising stopper on a lengthy deal.

I rate Lukasz highly and I am very pleased that he has committed his future to the Club.” said Wenger.

“I believe he is a top competitor, he’s intelligent and reads the game very well and has all the ingredients to be successful in his position.”
