Old Trafford has been somewhat of a happy hunting ground for Jose Mourinho, both in charge of Porto and Chelsea. But now, at the helm of FC Internazionale, the Champions League draw has thrown up a magical draw, with arguably the two most respected managers in world football meeting once again in the round of 32. The Portugese gaffer has lost just the once at Old Trafford, and possibly most notibaly beat Ferguson’s team with Porto, as a stepping stone to lifting the Champions League trophy itself.
In a recent interview, Mourinho claimed that he is a better manager since experiencing Serie A, as Italian football requires more astute tactics, and, indeed, more atute tacticians. If he is to be beleived, then the Nezurri should have the upper hand, as Mourinho is all too familiar with the English game, and has also succeeded in it. He knows how Sir Alex’s mind works. Although Ferguson has pitted his wits against Jose Mourinho many times before, he is not too familiar with the way Italian football is played, and how the ‘Special One’ has adapted himself since taking over at the San Siro.
This will be a tough one to call, with the newly crowned world champions coming up against three-time-consecutive serie A winning Inter side. Either way, expect the bookmakers to be making a small fortune.
